Corner Crib

Cribs are involved in more infant deaths each year than any other nursery product. Know what to look for when buying a crib.

There are a number of things you should consider when purchasing a used baby crib in order to ensure that the crib will be a safe place for your baby to sleep. These concerns are especially relevant for babies under the age of twelve months but should never be ignored no matter how old your baby is.

First, check the corner crib posts on the crib bedding. The best option is corner crib posts that are flush with the headboard and footboard. At most, they should extent 1/16″ above the top. They should not be long enough for clothing worn to get hooked on.

First of all you need to ensure that you have the correct mattress for your crib. The correct mattress must fit firmly inside the crib with absolutely no gaps around the edges or corner crib.

A three-sided crib, the corner baby crib is basically designed to fit into the corner of a room. It has a triangular shape which allows flexibility in space. This corner crib is available in different kinds of woods and finished in non-toxic stains.

Thoroughly inspect the cribs stability and craftsmanship. Check for loose or missing screws. Note the measurements between the slats and ensure that there are no gaps larger than 2 3/8 inches. This is about the same size as a soda can. Each slat should be firmly in place and there should be no missing or broken slats. Be sure to check each one individually.

Also examine the corner crib posts. These should be no more than 1/16th of an inch high. A higher post is a place where your baby’s clothes could get stuck. Some other things to consider are if the crib has cutouts or has any mesh siding.

Headboard and footboard cutouts, despite being decorative, are a place where your baby’s head can get stuck. If you know what things to avoid and what things to keep in mind then you should have no problem with your used crib.
